Preface

"A lot of time has passed, but please consider my daughter's well-being. She's only 28, with her entire life ahead of her. Right now, she's not in a state to think or decide for herself, but we, as her elders, must think about her future," Mr. Agrawal said, his voice thick with determination, as he glanced at his daughter, her face devoid of emotions, her beautiful features shrouded in a white suit.

Mr. Hooda sighed, "What's done is done. Sana is like our own daughter. We can't bear the thought of her living a life like this."

Mr. Agrawal continued, "That's why I'm asking you, what do you want? If you permit us, we'd like to take our daughter back with us."

Mr. Hooda clutched his four-year-old grandson tightly, "He's our grandson, Agarwal sahab, the last memory of our Pradeep. How can we separate him from us?"

Mr. Agrawal requested, "Please keep your grandson, but let us take our daughter with us."

Mr. Hooda asked, accusingly, "How can you even think of separating a mother from her child?"

Mr. Agrawal rubbed his face, "I'm only thinking as a father."

Mr. Hooda asked, "Don't you want Sana to be happy?"

"Of course," Mr. Agrawal replied.

Mr. Hooda said, "Then why send her away? Here, she can find happiness."

Mr. Agrawal frowned, "I don't understand."

Mr. Hooda explained, "You're forgetting, Agarwal sahab, that in our family, the tradition of pagdi still continues."

Mr. Agrawal gasped, finally understanding, "You mean Armaan..."

Mr. Hooda smiled, "You're right."

Mr. Agrawal looked at his daughter, "But she's his bhabhi..."

Mr. Hooda said, "She was his bhabhi, now she'll become his wife."

Mr. Agrawal asked, "Will you have any objections?"

Mr. Hooda assured, "We want our daughter to stay in a good family like yours. Please don't worry about Sidharth's responsibilities."

Mr. Agrawal suggested, "Just ask Armaan once, and he'll take care of everything."

Mr. Hooda assured, "It's his duty to fulfill his brother's responsibilities. Don't worry about that."

Mr. Agrawal thanked him, folding his hands, "Thank you, Hooda sahab, you've relieved me of a huge burden."

Mr. Hooda said, "Our daughter and grandson will stay with us. What more could we want?"

The two men embraced each other, and just like that, two people who had only seen each other as brother-in-law and sister-in-law were declared to be future husband and wife by their parents.
